Hello all,
I’m Vince, and I live in Central Florida. I’m a soon-to-be un-retired firefighter/paramedic. After 28 years in the fire service, I called it quits—or so I thought—in October of 2024. Over the next year, I did just about everything I’d ever wanted to do and then some. Hell, I even started writing. A lot.
Enough, apparently, that I was lucky enough to have a few stories picked up by Field Ethos, Florida Sportsman, and The Drake. Writing was never on my bingo card, but here we are.
I’ve been a licensed captain since 1995 and have guided on and off in the Everglades ever since. I’m just as at home on the water as I am in the woods chasing whitetails—and pretty much anything else in season. Retirement also gave me the chance to spend much-needed time with my wife and kids, which has been worth everything.
That said, even with the freedom to hunt and fish whenever I want, I’ve realized I’m not quite ready to hang up the whole work thing. I looked into a few other lines of work, but the 9-to-5 life just doesn’t suit me. So I’ll be hopping back into the public safety world before long. Stick with what you know, I guess. At least I’ll still have plenty of days off to fish and hunt.
I’m looking forward to interacting with everyone here.
Take care,
Vince
