.30-06 is the sexiest of calibers. I can’t and won’t elaborate.
That is some beautiful wood. Tell us more about the rifle.
165-180gr bullets going 2750-2950fps are plenty to most hunting distances. However, only accurate rifles are interesting. Fortunately, I’ve found the 30-06 very tunable

Savage 110L my grand dad had customized by a local gunsmith in the 60’s. Jeweled bolt and action is slickened. Engraved with his initial on floor plate and bolt handle custom flame maple stick that fits me perfectly (we were the same height and length of pull) and I’m the only other lefty in the family so all the best guns went to me. Bausch and Lomb Scope fine hair 4x scope

My Dad had an off the shelf/over the counter SAVAGE 110 30-06 from the 60s... it was his hunting rifle, extremely accurate for the time, we boys nicknamed it "Brutus" because it kicked like a mule. He had a Red field 4x scope on it. Damn fine rifle.
