Went to buy a workbench from a guy and he asked if I was interested in guns, I said sure and he went and grabbed a pistol case; had a Polymer P80 in it that was mostly finished but he said he couldn't figure out why it didn't work right, said he'd take $50 for it. Done.

Got home, ordered a Glock parts kit for it because it didn't have a single frame pin in it, and now it shoots perfect.

Was on a golf course construction project years ago (1993) and after seeing several nice bucks on the property I decided I needed a rifle to keep in my truck should an opportunity. The Roses department in the nearest town had inexpensive surplus military rifles. After having the lady helping me bring out several I scored a Canadian Lee Enfield No. 4 MK 1. All serial numbers matching (including the magazine). $50.00. Had it for several years, shot a few does with it and sold it in the mid 2000’s for $400. Shoulda never sold it. It was a handy little rifle.

$10 raffle ticket to support the local Warsaw high school - West Hancock Titans cheerleading team. Won a Kimber Stainless Arctic LW 1911 in 9mm about a month ago. I know...Kimber takes a lot of flack...but it worked and felt great. 1000023906.jpg

I don’t remember the entire story around it but a kid I was friends with needed money. He had a Browning Abolt gold medallion in 243. I think he was asking 300 for it. It would have been the late 90’s.

The other was a kid that was a few years older than me got pinch for banging a 17 year old. He was 19 or 20. Ended up not being able to own a gun so I bought a Springfield 1903 for 125. The thing was modified for hunting. I should get a pic of it because it’s a cool gun and it flat out shoots. I killed a big WI whitetail a few months later with it.

When I turned 18, I purchased a Verona/Sarsilmaz semi auto at Dicks sporting goods. The tag said $350, which I was willing to pay. At checkout, they rang me up at $100. I did the honest thing and told them the tag was more. They said, our error, you get it for $100. I used it for a couple season and eventually sold it for $100 to a friend.
I had this happen at Dicks with a Ruger 77/44. Bought it for like $350 or something silly. Ended up trading it for my Ruger 77 in .338 Win Mag. Great deal for me but I do regret trading away that 77/44.

Thank God for big corporations that sell guns and have minimum wage workers that know little about guns selling them 😂

Spied an Armand Swenson built Gold Cup on Rock Island. They had it listed as a regular Colt and I guess no one but me saw that special little marking on the frame. Saved me about $3k.

And old Winchester model 52B that my vet gave me because his kids had no interest. it belonged to his father. Me nor my gun friends have ever seen one like this. 24” heavy barrel, peep sight, target stock. Some kind of old military trainer maybe? Or some custom order for a competition rifle way back when? Not sure but I really enjoy looking at it. Plus it is definitely a tack driver. As far as purchases go, I paid 500 2 years ago for a like new Winchester model 12 heavy duck. I was excited about that one.
