Cattlemen's Club- Pierre, SD (NOT the Mitchell location, it's not as good). Sawdust on the floor type of place, great steaks and prime rib. Stop every year on our hunting trip out west.

Optimist - Atlanta (seafood and on the list because my 9 years olds got a special dish from the chef and kitchen tour after staff saw them slurping oysters out of the shell)

Alaska is a big place so it needs a big list lol I should preface Alaska is odd when it comes to the food scene. Definitely some hidden hems and some terrible tourist traps. Figured I post these spots I like in case anyone finds themselves in one of those towns

It’ll be Uber distance away but Ruby Slipper would be a good lower priced option to get some tasty food.

Whiskey Bar in the basement of the Motto Hotel in DC (obscene selection of rare whiskeys, cheaper than the competition)
The Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi (bit of a tourist trap now, but still a cool experience)
Kashoka Abdoun in Amman (and Dallas) (not going to win points for fancy, but great, authentic Middle Eastern food, very cheap)

OvenBird in Birmingham, AL ended up being a big hit. Incredibly well executed for the money. Almost every dish was in the $20-25ish range. Every cocktail on the menu was a crowd pleaser. And they have this Spanish wine spout that you pour into your own mouth and it makes for a pretty good piece of entertainment for the table.

Atlanta, GA- Heirloom Market BBQ, Korean BBQ with a southern meat n three twist in a old gas station https://heirloommarketbbq.com/

Nashville, TN- Catbird Seat, multi course tasting menu that feels more like you got invited to sit in with a bunch of rockstar chefs in their kitchen as they feed you amazing plates for 3+ hours while blasting Phil Collins, paired with cocktails and bottles that compliment the plates perfectly.

Cork, Ireland- Elbow Lane, small pub and smokehouse that does wonderful steak and chops over a roaring fire, the chef will be chopping wood in front of you to feed the fire before they throw dinner on the grille. amazing cocktails that made it all the more impressive what they could crank out of such a small kitchen and bar.

St George Island, FL- Paddy's Raw bar, (I have never been here sober) but the best oysters in the gulf and beer is so cold its a slushie.

This reminds me for raw bars. Gotta try Lee & Rick’s Oyster Bar in Orlando, FL. Tough neighborhood and it’s not fancy at all. But the oysters are unreal good and the beer is as cold as you can get.
