Locando Brasato in Birmingham, AL.

Veal meatballs were astoundingly good with toasted rosemary over polenta.IMG_9871.jpeg

The spaghetti carbonara is simply not to be missed. This is a classic dish I hold to a high standard- and this has made the top 3-5 in the country.IMG_9873.jpeg

Right across the road is Little Betty Steak Bar. I’m sure you’ve been but it’s a good one.

Helen is a restaurant in downtown BHam and I highly recommend it.

The Old European, Pullman, WA
ZZQ, Richmond, VA for BBQ
Pinocchios, Cambridge, MA for Pizza
Bar Bacetto, Waitsburg, WA for Pasta
The JT, Gardnerville, NV for Basque food

Little Betty is good. The Duck Fat Washed Old Fashioned was so special I had to reverse engineer that at my house.

Helen is very solid. You need to try Rob’s new “sister” restaurant Bayonet (it’s next to Helen).

…and we need more pictures with this thread.

Bayonet is on the list.

We did Cafe DuPont recently, that was good. Automatic Seafood is decent. Epice is good if you’re into Mediterranean. Lapeer is a good local Atlanta restaurant that just opened up in the same building as Epice.

Damned fine place @Pete Correale - and far superior to the one out on the island.

When I did a manufacturing turnaround in Amityville, in to Manhattan a bunch to massage our money backers, that was our regular. Best porterhouse ever!

One of my personal favorites is “Peter Lugers” in Brooklyn… Its a experience, and probably the best steak you will ever have…..

Eischen’s Bar in Okarche, OK. Next level fried chicken, okra, fixin’s, and cold beer. They don’t even have plates, it’s that good.

Javier’s in Dallas, TX. Upscale Mexican food. Get the filet cantiflas and admire the taxidermy with a cigar.

Nate’s seafood and steakhouse - Addison, TX. Best Cajun outside Louisiana and live blues music on thursdays and sundays.

For the DFW area, try Don Artemio in Fort Worth.

If you ever find yourself in South Texas near Corpus Christi go check out the Museum of Selena, then swing over to the USS Lexington and check out that too. After doing all that I’m sure you will be parched and starving. Go grab some drinks and fresh oysters at the Water Street Oyster Bar

1) Gage and Tollner - if you ever find yourself in Brooklyn. Their Devils on Horseback are a great starter. Raw bar, steaks and bartenders that are true artisans of their craft.
2) Palmers Steakhouse - Hartland, WI - Great steaks and excellent bourbon selection in a classic WI supper club.
3) Vinegar Hill House - Brooklyn as well.
Adding Black Cow Chophouse in Charlottesville, VA to the list. Excellent steaks, fantastic brussel sprouts and a nice old fashioned.

I’ve had chicken there! It was delicious.

Doe’s steakhouses in Arkansas.

They have a location in Fort Smith that’s a little fancy. This one is good food but it’s a little too fancy for me.

The Little Rock location is the spot. Checkered plastic picnic table covers on the tables. The steaks are crazy good. You walk through the kitchen to get to your table.
