I've gone through several phases of whiskey drinking, but always come back to two bottles that I find punch above their class:
1) Wild Turkey 101
2) Baker's 107

The "recent" change in Baker's to single barrels from batches hasn't really changed my affinity for it, I find every single barrel I've had to be of a high quality. Both Wild Turkey and Baker's (Jim Beam) put out some phenomenal limited editions (The Baker's limited releases are very, very good). But if I am traveling and need a bottle to drag around, WT101 is consistent and always available.

For cocktails, I like Old Overholt Rye as it’s a good balance for most recipes and relatively inexpensive. For sipping, I’ve been getting into the Japanese whisky lately. I recently had the Yamazaki 12yr and that’s hard to beat for a special occasion sip.
Check out the Old Overholt Monongahela mash. Super tasty. If you are going to be in Atlanta in Feb ill bring some of the rye from the distillery I work for.

I will be there and I look forward to enjoying a drink with you
