Not too long ago (before I sold myself to Uncle Sam for an education) I was a severely underpaid Chef de Tournant in some fantastic kitchens. Just about any dive open after we got off work, often well past midnight, recognized the order of a "shot of fernet" (in this case Branca, not the Fernet Amaro that should be used in your black manhattan) as a secret handshake.Fernet, a man of culture

Depends on my mood. Tequila (reposado), water, lime. And a jalapeno slice if they have it.Ok, you sit down at a bar and order a liquor drink. What’s your go-to?
If it’s a bar that looks like they know what they’re doing, I’m expanding my horizons. 90% of the I’m going with a Ranch Water because it’s hard to mess up.

OuchI used to order negronis. This one waiter was shocked that I ordered one. I didn't understand what the problem was until I got the receipt.

What’s your go-to Scotch?Hendrix and tonic or Aperol Spritz in hotter climate , Scotch on rocks, whisky and coke or Ginger ale in colder climates. May pick Gin or Whisky cocktail on menu if piques my interest.
Balvenie, Arbelour, or Johnny Walker Blue LabelWhat’s your go-to Scotch?
Macallen 12 first choice if available. I like Johnny Walker Gold. Sometimes go with Chivas internationally. Forgot to add, I’ll drink the international specialty when in Rome. Beer in Germany, GT in England, Pisco in Peru, wine in Italy, etc. What’s your go-to Scotch?

Chivas! This was the first scotch I was ever introduced to. I got it as a holiday gift at work. My roommate told me to taste it. I thought it was the worst thing I’ve ever had. I don't know why, but I read that as you liking Crown and my opinion of you went down. A lot.Chivas! This was the first scotch I was ever introduced to. I got it as a holiday gift at work. My roommate told me to taste it. I thought it was the worst thing I’ve ever had. Now I love it.
They have some good offerings like Royal Salute and sometimes only option internationally. Probably wouldn’t be my top choice domestically. I like Crown and coke, so maybe don’t trust my opinion.I don't know why, but I read that as you liking Crown and my opinion of you went down. A lot.
Then I re-read what you wrote, which I often need to do, and saw you were talking about Chivas scotch. I've never had Chivas as I'm usually a single malt snob. I've now added Chivas to my list of scotches to try
