Yes, that’s a 45-70 dark series. Is that top one the Ruger Made Marlin Dark Series?
My SBL is what got me hooked on these things. I can’t get enough of it.My dad bought the Ruger-made Marlin Model 1895 SBL 45-70. The thing is awesome to shoot.
This one has the most meaning to me because it was a gift from a bunch of my best friends for my 30th birthday. It’s a really cool Alaskan takedown in 45 colt.
That’s impressive with a .44 mag. Were you using those hornady XTPs?Marlin Dark Series in .44. Killed a hammer 415lb black bear with it.
Thanks! I used HSM 305 grain bear loads. Kill shot was a head shot from 8 feet away. I had him on the ground hunting with dogs. He turned to fight dogs and I ran up and let that Marlin bark. That’s impressive with a .44 mag. Were you using those hornady XTPs?
Beautiful rifleSavage 99F in .308 with a Lyman peep. View attachment 2245
Here are two of mine I currently have. The top one in a 1951 built Marlin 336 RC, in 30-30 Win. I got from my father-in-law a few years before he passed. I’ve used it to take a white tail doe, and a mountain lion here in Wyoming. The bottom is I a generation 1 Marlin guide gun in 45-70 Govt. I’ve used that one to take a wild pig on the central coast area of California, and a Cape buffalo in South Africa.Man I love that buffalo pic! Such a cool setup!View attachment 2249Here are two of mine I currently have. The top one in a 1951 built Marlin 336 RC, in 30-30 Win. I got from my father-in-law a few years before he passed. When we lived in Henderson, NV, I had Jerimy West of Wild West Guns go through the action, add the XS sight rail, front sight and a few other specialty parts. The optic is an out of production Leupold VX-R, 1.5-5X33mm "Scout Scope" with the firedot duplex reticle. In reality it's an extended eye relief optic. Buffalo Bore ammo, 430gr hard cast lead, LBT (Lead Bullet Technologies) LFN (Long Flat Nose). A single broadside shot to the boiler room, he ran off about 100 yards, tipped over, death bellowed for a short time, then we collected him.Man I love that buffalo pic! Such a cool setup!
