Ya did good kid, ya did good.No flex intended; it just felt like the appropriate place and time to share...
Hell bud, we're all hard to control unsuppressed on full auto.. but any of us can be handled in short burstsI'm a big fan. They're hard to control unsuppressed in full auto but they're not bad with bursts.
I agree with all of this. @Jason Vincent also made an argument for ultra short 5.56 if it's just within the house. For sure. The 223/5.56 really starts to lose its ass with barrels under about 12" even with the heaviest bullets. (12" bbl w/75 or 77 is generally around 2350-2400fps-ish at muzzle) Then there is the bullet performance element; most of the 223/5.56 bullets will lose a lot of their ability to expand as designed when impact velocities drop to ~1800fps at that point, penetration can also become less predictable. Extra twist rate can help, but it seldom trumps impact velocity. For work at conversational distance...it's no factor, but within 200 yards bullets will be under 2000fps. Narrow-ish performance window. The 300 BLK really comes into its own with barrels 10" and shorter as it will achieve similar MV with bullets 1.75X heavier. Doesn't necessarily increase that imaginary 200yd range, but it will do more work from start to stop. That said, I wouldn't argue @Christian Craighead about the 45 AUTO being an even better choice for really short barrels, because he'd be right. In the >1800fps velocity realm, bullet mass and frontal area start to carry a lot more weight in the equation. (horrible pun, but completely intended lol) That said, if a guy is gonna run an AR, on gas, in a config that Stoner probably never dreamed of (really short barrel)....the 300 BLK really stacks the deck the best of any cartridge out there, at least in my opinion. Reliability with available mags, gas pressure & volume at port with a pistol length system, and still generating enough velocity to deliver decent expansion and penetration but with a significantly heavier bullet.
Assuming appropriate ammo and a proper suppressor, @Jason Vincent isn't wrong... I believe the home defense spectrum is pretty broad tho, and what one has in that moment would eclipse what might be technically perfect. Hell, I know a guy that keeps an original 1860 Heavy Cavalry Saber for home defense...when it comes to style points, he's got me beat.I agree with all of this. @Jason Vincent also made an argument for ultra short 5.56 if it's just within the house.

It doesn’t hurt that the Lage family is just so dang nice. Great products and great people. This is a cool story on the can. You should post some R&D pics/stories from this. You've seen the rest, now it's time to see the best.
I give you: The MPoor7.
Manufactured with the highest quality sheet metal the 80's had to offer, paired with a Lage Mfg upper receiver and a sweet desert digi rattle can job.
Also pictured is a pomade I've been really jazzed about lately and a rough draft of my book.

The suppressor is one I made on a form one, and I was able to really dial in the porting of the baffles to strike a balance between suppression and back pressure. It's a crude direct blowback action so I wanted to keep port pop down to a minimum, but I also didn't want it to look like the 4th of July going off in front of me under nods. Though it was made as a joke it's still one of my go-to's for night shoots.
Damn thats nice! The latest “Skunkwerks” rifle by Gunwerks was released to me yesterday. The TAF (Tiny As Fuck). It only took 6 days for both non-tax stamps to come back from the AFT. 11.25” barrel, 6ix+ silencer, chambered in 6mm ARC ,Yeti flask, Tübr 2 cell humidor, 2 Guy Fieri Knuckle Sandwich cigars and 100 rounds of ammo. All in a light Pelican Air case. I added some Pretty Good Horse bourbon from Backwards Distilling. All the bases are covered. Alcohol, tobacco, firearms.
The whole kit, in the case is just over 20 pounds. A couple of padlocks and you can fly all over the US with this setup.
Replying to my own comment about needing to buy one of the FRTs for my SBR…. because the next batch of preorders just opened. I should have my “not a machine gun” conversion done by the end of July!I need to get one of those FN Specialties FRTs they released at SHOT for this now.
