One of my leverguns. A 336T from the days when Marlin was still Marlin along with the rest of the general woods related stuff I had on me the day I took the photo. Neat fold to side mount, OG Leupold fixed 4x. This rifle shoots about 3MOA with hunting ammo. I got it for a song because the magazine tube was borked. I replaced the tube, spring, and follower and she was good to go. I've taken a deer with her, otherwise have had her around for general woods use. DXT57189.JPG

Love this post! I'm a big fan of lever guns and have a few myself. Primarily because back in the day being a lefty there weren't the options, we have today... it was either my old Remington 760 pump '06, or the lever rifle. I have an old Savage model 99 takedown in 300 Savage that I cherish. It was manufactured in 1920; I still use it today. I have a 38-55 Winchester and a Marlin 30-30 that I hunt a lot of game with still as well. Great guns but I suffer from nostalgia!

I have several Savage 99 take downs as well. My first was a 30-30. The Mad Trapper of the North carried one. Reading his exploits drew me to finding and purchasing one. They are really cool to handle and shoot. I have a 300 Savage as well as a 250-3000. The 250-3000 was the first US cartridge to hit 3000fps which is really cool since it was in a lever gun.

I had one of these 71's In the early 90's not this Special deluxe long tang model but just a standard and as I read an article on this society before I joined yes it was the one that got away I wished I never sold. Ex wifes and kids in college deplete your gun collection. Mine took the largest buck I have shot in southwest Maine. What a great rifle and yours is worth a few sheckles - the sling swivels alone now adays if you can find them are about $300-$400 bucks . Have acouple boxes still of silvertip WInchester for that , I can't seem to part with. Enjoy that beauty along with beautiful revolver
