Some of us here are newer to the game, and others have been doing it for a minute.

I started hunting just after college, back in 1992.
Let's see some OLD pics from back in the day, when YOU started out.

Here is a pic of my first big game kill from fall of /92 (I was 21)
A feral corsican sheep from New Mexico. We were hunting Mulies in the Gila Wilderness area and came across a band of free range sheep.
Slung an arrow and made my first kill on this guy.

Shoulder mount is still hanging in the living room today.

Bow did part of the work, but I am pretty sure my pornstache did most of the heavy lifting on this kill.

Here is my old man's first buck. From a little farm he grew up hunting in West Central Illinois back before deer herds were making noise on TV shows.
Here is my first buck (age 13) back in around 1997 on our small family farm in West Central Illinois. Shot a doe my first year, button buck the second year and bagged this guy my 3rd year hunting. Was ruined for several years and still haven't bested it.

I started out hunting cottontails and squirrels with my beagle in the late 80's, about 40 miles from downtown Detroit.

First big game kill for me. Caribou hunt with my dad and brother in August 2013. Shot it with a Ruger M77 Mark II .243 Win. One shot, heart and double lungs. Still have the bullet, which was trapped on the other side after passing through everything else. It was an awesome hunt.

Still have that Cabela’s XPG 4P tent. Weighs 10 pounds but it’s been through some stuff. My dad wanted to throw up his tarp over my tent on this trip.

My brother and dad tagged up on this Anterless moose tag in December 2013. My brother used his Traditions Tracker 209 .50 Caliber Muzzleloader.

My dad used his classic Connecticut Valley Arms Hawken .54 Caliber Muzzleloader. He built his from one of those self build kits that comes with the muzzleloader rifle and pistol.

They also recovered both bullets used.

Beautiful bull!

Thanks! I think it was one of the calmest shots I’ve taken. It was about 210yards and I remember everything slowing down as I took the shot and then hearing the THUMP as it hit.

The bull was walking when we spotted him, then he bedded down as we crawled on our bellies to a little bench. Then as I was lining up, he stood up perfectly broadside. Can’t ask for a better shot.

This was my brother’s year to hunt. He got this caribou in Aug 2017. We all had buck fever when we only spotted this guy’s antlers in the alders/willows. Honestly it’s a miracle we even got him. We somehow managed to get him down though!

My brother and I hauled out everything after my dad said “guys I’m having chest pains, you mind helping an old man out?” Turns out he was seeing how much we could carry out ourselves lol

But those back straps and tenderloins afterwards were one of the best camping meals I’ve had.
