I am torn on how to Scout out my Fix after watching the latest Donnie Vincent film in Alaska.

I was thinking of putting a full length rail and running the Vortex scout scope and irons, but his rifle with the AUS direct mount looked pretty slick and in the vein of a scout rifle for utility and handiness. Top the scope with a Delta Point pro on a ring of fire and it is a modern irons concept.

The hives opinion?

As an aside Donnie's film is great. I think FE films are 100% but he is for sure 99.5%

Well my gun has been broken down, blasted, new barrel received and threaded, and I’m ready to cerekote. Scope arrived and waiting on bases and pic rail and a couple little odds and ends. It will be a one of a kind is all I’ll say lol.
The race is on. ;)

And... they're supposed to be "one of a kind". I would make the case that St Jeff intended, within the confines of his spec, for the Concept Rifle to be "individual"... which was a part of his point about the "true rifleman" using the rifle as an extension of himself. And, since we are all special little snowflakes, our rifles should be as well.

It’s going to be 70 today in ND. This snowflake is going to melt!!

Wade has OPSEC. We know enough to fear you but not enough to dismiss you, copy you, or one up you.

I'm slightly behind you. My base rifle is doing 10 days in gun jail before I can have it handed to me. Then I can hand it back for some work of some unnamed, minor or extensive sort that may be functional, cosmetic, dietary, or all of those.

The Shitbox Scout is almost done. I'm just trying to decide if it should be just shitty, or also ridiculous.

I’ll go in early. I’m going with the spirit of the concept with modern tech.

Q-Fix in .308 for enough power to hunt big game. This rifle has taken warthog and blesbok. Full dress weight is 8.1 lbs.

2.5-8x Sig SAUER BDX scope in a Reptilia direct AUS Mount for weight. The scope that puts shots in a 1.5 MOA box up to 600 yards.

Leupold delta point pro red dot on a ROF mount to replace irons (it’s a new world old man, lol)

HopticUSA quiver for extra ammo on the gun

Spartan Javelin bipod mount and bipod on the gun as needed with an Annex Defense Sidekick Arca rail so I can use a tripod if needed but does not interfere with off hand shooting.

Black Canyon Systems sling which does work with off hand shooting and carried the rifle successfully in Africa.

We need weight!!! Is she a thick girl or not?!!! Cool setup BTW. Looks like a fun gun to shoot and hunt with.

I'm working on three different options, with a fourth in reserve. None are going easy or well, and the box of reject stuff is growing.
The one I had the highest hopes for just will not work as a traditional scout rifle. With a RDS and no back up sights, it work very well.
I'm intending to keep things more in line with the original concept.

It's about like our deer camp competition to build a 10/22 starting with a Brownells receiver, and then the sky's the limit.
I ended up with four of those, too.

Damn bro. This is a strong start

I’ve got to get used to the new height of the scope and adjust the gun a little bit and work on getting better body position. Also consistently loading the bipod but worst group was less than 2 inches and the best is below. For a lightweight hunting gun it’s pretty good and I would have no worries about taking anything walking at 400 yards. Need to stretch it out to 600 again.

3 shot group at 112 yards because our club is a bit weird.
