You have 6 months to build your version of the ultimate scout rifle. Any style, any chambering. Prove why you think yours is the best and we’ll all vote on a winner.

Post build photos in this thread if you’d like to show off your progress or keep it top secret.

You CAN have a gunsmith work on your rifle. We’ll need an accuracy report and final weight.

First prize is a free cull hunt with the FE squad and a $500 gift card to the FE store.

Second and third place don’t get shit. This is America.

Contest ends on August 28, 2026 at midnight. No late submissions. All society members will get a week to vote after the contest ends.

I’m definitely going to build something I may never financially recover from.

Ya I ain’t that rich and I’m pretty sure my armorer would be my ass if I borrowed one of our rifles 😂

Im gonna play.

I bought several Steyr Scout Rifles at the 1998 SHOT Show when they were officially introduced.

After the show, we went to Paulden and met COL Cooper at the Sconce. Over Lunch, we discussed the Scout Rifle at length.
At his nearby range, we tried out the rifle, and I've been a fan ever since.

I do prefer a traditional LPVO to the scout scope, but there just was not anything like them available back then.

This was the heaviest flex you could have dropped in this thread.

“Yes, so I have personally met with the dude that personified the scout rifle and he coached me on how to build this.”

That meeting with Cooper was a great day, but I'll save my serious flexing for the big reveal on 28 AUG.

That time was mid assault weapon ban, and one Scout Rifle consideration was that it was 50 state legal. I don't recall any semi autos that would have been good Scout Rifle candidates then, but there are a few now.
