I know a few of you or maybe more enjoy cigars. Uncle @Terry Houin had one in his loadout the other day, and @Jason Vincent showed showed us a nice prototype cast iron cigar ashtray. We all know Alps are the most efficient way to get your fix these days, but when a man has some time for ritual and self-care, a great Stogie or pipe comes to mind.

Throughout history, influential men have enjoyed the leaf. Einstein and William Faulkner always had a pipe held in pursed lips, especially while thinking or writing. Roosevelt loved his Cubans, smoking one each day, JFK had his H. Upmanns, and Fidel loved his lanceros - usually enjoying a Trinidad Fundadores or Cohiba lancero and often sharing them with political friends and foreign dignitaries.

Personally, I’m a huge fan of Padron Maduros in most all formats, but a box press 2000 maduro if I’m a bit more pressed for time and 4000 series or an anniversary 1926 for a longer smoke or if celebrating a special occasion. If you don’t like Padron, you don’t like cigars. My favorite micro brands include Foundation, Dunbarton, Aladino, and CLE. Cannot go wrong with Fuente Opus X and most things that AJ Fernandez blends.

My favorite old world pre-embargo brands still existing today include Montecristo no. 2, Romeo y Juliet, Hoyo de Monterrey (no. 4 epicure). I have a box or two of a particular favorite format in cuban brands reserved for my kids’ birthdays - enjoy one each year and journal about the year they had. It’s helped me slow down and appreciate my kids when day to day, they can drive you up the wall.

What are you dudes smoking these days outside of upper decking Alps and shotgunning lung darts for your nicotine fix?

What are your favorites? Show us your favorite smoking accessories?

I'm not a huge cigar guy, but I love my pipes. My favorite pipe is a Peterson Newgrange Spigot 608. When I get the hankering for something strong I smoke Gawith Hoggarth's Kendal Dark and Dark Plug, very strong flavorful tobaccos. Otherwise it's a basic VA/Burley mix for me.

I don’t smoke too often except at quail and duck camp and occasionally in my trophy room/bar if I’ve had a successful outing or business day. I like Cohiba black. My friend introduced me to My Father cigars so I’ve been enjoying them as of late. I also enjoy Buffalo Trace cigars for something light in flavor. As far as pipes go I smoke from an old pipe that has Boer War 1902 hand carved into it. Kind of cool to smoke it and think of the history where that pipe has been.IMG_3203.jpegIMG_3200.jpeg

Have you ever tried Penzance? One of my favorite pipe blends.

Very cool. Peterson makes a nice pipe!

Love me some Padrons and huge fan of the Opus X's you mentioned.

I have something close to 100 sticks in my humidor at the moment, ranging from house cigars made by small brick and mortar shops and even Acids for the occasional smoker who may be visiting, to the Padrons, Tatuajes, Macanudos, Upmanns, Montes and everything in between for those who know what to look for in cigars ro have a preference in profile.

That said, I don't smoke nearly as much as I used to. I'm usually a once-a-month smoker, if that. Still appreciate the hell out of a good cigar, though, and will break them out when someone visits and wants to smoke one.

I normally smoke CAOs and have nearly smoked everything in their collection. I smoke about one a month or more depending on events and living next to a cigar lounge makes it easy to smoke almost every weekend.

I have also found Pyrex or Tupperware works well as a humidor but need to get me a good humidor.

Also got the CAO Amazon Basin box that comes out only every three years about a year ago and still have plenty left till they come out again.

CAO La Traviata was one of the first cigars I’ve ever had that served as a gateway into the hobby!
