Sensei of Things and Such
I’m planning on doing more educational short videos on a variety of topics, tips, and lessons learned.

Let’s start a running list of topics you’d like to more information on And I’ll get started soon.

I’d like to see a video of your setup and method for hunting the medium 450 ish and in distances. Do you use a dope card, calculator, etc? How do you set up your zero to simplify things at those distances?

Uncle T,

I inherited my pop's .444 Marlin, and shot a forked-horn blacktail. It pulverized the meat.

Should I aim for the head or wait until I see a mature buck?

Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sorry Sean, did not see this earlier. I don’t advocate for head shots on any animals besides Yotes and Prarie Dogs. If the High Shoulder shot damages too much meat for you and mid lung shot has the least amount of meat around it.

good one and I can walk through how I use the ballistic computer to find the most effective battle sight zero

Bullet geeking:
Penetration vs expansion
Small caliber 22 and 243 vs 7mm and 30 cal
Lead cup&core/bonded/partition vs mono expanding/ fracturing

The effects on animals. Time to incapacitation. Effective range etc

Basically what are experience you are able to share from personal experiences that others may not have.

Bullet selection and construction is on my list. Lots of options and I’ve seen some less than ideal selections for animals.

I’ll look into some ballistic gel for shits and giggles

Start with the basics! Really want is all the equipment to have? Ammo info, bullet speed, wind readers? Books to read. Man where do you start.
First step is to sign upo for my classes which I know you're coming to South Dakota so you are on the right track. I can do a video on my basics for the range and then get into how to put the pieces together.

Looking forward to SD & practicing before hand as well. Need to get a couple good set ups to take with me before I head out. 300prc will be on the ride and maybe a new 7PRC. Bring my 6.5 Grendel AR format or ? Going to be fun.

I do like the 7PRC cartridge and its popular so there some options there. Lets get a wish list of what you want the rifle to be able to do and then go from there. Maybe start a thread under the Firearms section focused on your 7PRC build.

I'd also through in a 5.56 upper for the AR.
