Used Gun Counter Appreciation

When I walk into a gun shop the first stop I make is at the used gun counter. A lot of the deals are in used guns. What are some of your favorite used guns you’ve found at the local gun shop?

Recently I got a great deal on a S&W 39-2. I’ve always wanted a 39 and have contemplated sending it to Jordan Switzer to do a modern day ASP pistol rebuild. After shooting it, it’s pretty sweet as-is and I’ll probably carry it like this for a few years before I change it up.

I do the same and have scored some killer deals.

I've had some incredible scores on used guns. Always helps to have a handful of Benjamins in your wallet to haggle with. Gun shops pay pennies on the dollar for used guns.

Best score ever was a SVI Infinity 45ACP double stack for $1500

I still love that Taurus so much. That’s a great find.

Duncan's Gunworks in San Marcos and Fine Firearms in La Mesa are two shops in San Diego County that often have a really good selection of used guns. I got a 10/22 for a steal from FF a few years ago.

Just a sample of Jaqua’s. Whole bottom shelf of Model 21’s. There’s another shelf above loaded with them too I didn’t take a pic of. Last time I was there, they had a Holland & Holland double rifle sitting on the counter for $138k. 1000’s of guns. Some new, but mostly used.

It’s an experience. My dad and a couple of my friends try to make the pilgrimage there each year just to drool over and fondle a couple. Only a two hour drive for us. If it was closer, it could be real hard on the wallet.

I scored this 1948 production M&P snub (shop thought it was a junker refinished 10) for $240 and later this beat 15-3 for $225 from the same shop. The M&P has a stupid good action and shoots lights out. It had a set of UM Spegels on it when I bought it. I added the Hamre Forge Spegel extended boots and leather grip tape from Davranov. The 15 had service stocks on it. I did the same with the grips. The 15 also shoots lights out.

It's a thumb knife from Polite But Dangerous Tools in AK. He and Revomag did an OSS collaboration. The magazine looking thing is a Revomag. It's got Camp 2 Topo on it for OSS fun. Here's another view.

It's 140gr XTPs from High Desert. I absolutely love the load. It shoots laser beams in 38s. His 357 load does the same. He's a good guy too.
