HAD to look this up, pretty dang cool if you ask me.....
“Which of the following guns should be designated as the state gun of Idaho? Please choose only one answer.

(a) Winchester Model 1894 (.30-30);

(b) Winchester Model 1873 "Gun that Won the West" (.44-40);

(c) 1873 Colt Single Action Army Revolver "Peacemaker" (.45 Colt);

(d) M1 Garand rifle (.30-06);

(e) Colt M1911 .45 automatic Colt pistol (.45 ACP); or

(f) Remington Model 700 bolt-action rifle (.30-06).”

I'm from Kentucky. So it's Kentucky Long Rifle all day. Hershel House is probably the greatest example of the highest level of the form - http://www.housebrothersproject.com/articles/article4.html. Lives in a log cabin in western Kentucky and hand builds these amazing rifles. I spent a weekend out there back in the day on a story. Incredible. Some of them go for around $15K.

Was surprised that Oklahoma doesn’t have one…I think that in honor of Bass Reeves we should adopt the state gun as two Colt .45s, which he famously carried handles forward to cross draw.

Sharing this with my friend that moved to ID. Tough choices, toss up between the 1894 and the 1873 for me. Peacemaker to the head, I guess I'd go with the 1873, as it pre-dates Idaho becoming a state.
