Cool evening after an uneventful hunt. I was heading back toward camp when the herd I’d been waiting for all day suddenly exploded out of the woods…running hard on both sides of the trail, maybe three or four yards off.

By the time my brain caught up, they were already past me. Twilight, bad angle, completely off guard.

I’ve never been that close to opportunity and felt so powerless at the same time. As I stood there listening to them crash away, the only thought that stuck was: “ they’re in the trees. “

This was a great hunt filled with a mess of laughter, bow shootoffs, and most importantly, memories. Most never understand that hunt camps are not only about the harvest, but the camaraderie! This Aisatic water buffalo was just the icing on the cake.IMG_0034 (1).jpeg
