Cool evening after an uneventful hunt. I was heading back toward camp when the herd I’d been waiting for all day suddenly exploded out of the woods…running hard on both sides of the trail, maybe three or four yards off.

By the time my brain caught up, they were already past me. Twilight, bad angle, completely off guard.

I’ve never been that close to opportunity and felt so powerless at the same time. As I stood there listening to them crash away, the only thought that stuck was: “ they’re in the trees. “

I can’t get enough of getting my kids out even through two of them are young adults.

This girl is an ass kicker, insanely sharp, funny and just purely fun to be around. Having two older brothers have helped shape her into the young lady she is. Her moms pretty awesome to!

From Limpopo in South Africa, April of last year. Photo 1 is my Gunwerks/FE collaboration rifle, the Krylon in 300 Win. Mag. and the first animal I took with it. An awesome Blesbuck. Photo 2 is also the Blesbuck. Photo 3 is a golden Oryx. Last one is a golden Wildebeest. All 4 were one shot kills. The Ammo is 215gr Berger Hybrid Target bullets at 2,756fps. I also opted for the Gunwerks 8ight Ti silencer. The FE "Venter" 1/4 zip lightweight hoodie is always a go to on the hunt, especially in Africa!
