Seiko Kinetic. Got it for 10 year gift from previous employer, so I didn't really care about it for a long time, which actually helped because I wore it camping and hiking not carrying about of it got dings or scratches. Turns out I actually live the Explorer/Ranger styling of it. Love it for a field watch. Crazy accurate for being now 20+ years old and never serviced. Would love to kind the same one in stainless.1000026873.jpg

When I was a kid, my grandma gave me a fake knock off Rolex Pepsi GMT. I took a long hiatus about caring anything about watches until I recently took up an interest. When I hunt, sleep, or workout I wear a Garmin Tactix 8 and it’s bad ass but with my new found interest in time pieces, I couldn’t get that Pepsi GMT out of my head. It’s classy, but still a little flashy and my travel-heavy lifestyle really pairs well with the purpose behind the design. So when I hit a recent career financial milestone I splurged when I found just the right one on Chrono24, a 2008 with box and papers, just serviced by Rolex. That’s my “nice watch.” Now I can’t get a no-date submariner on a nato strap out of my head and put my name on a list yesterday. Until that time comes, I got a cool Seiko Slim Turtle as my every day beater from my wife for Christmas. I like it because it’s a quality tool watch, scratches the diver itch on a budget, and it’s not trying too hard to be a sub. It’s got the design and features that make it uniquely a seiko and gives a nod back to the old MACV SOG watches. It’s a good start to my collection!

I’ve got 2 that I regularly rotate, but no Rolex for this guy.

The Timex expedition regularly gets mistaken for far nicer timepieces, and I love the choco chip NATO straps.

As for the Citizen, my grandfather had a Mickey Mouse watch I always loved, and when they released the 50th anniversary edition, I picked it up.

This is my Seiko SKX007 Dive watch, purchased in 2002, it's my go to everyday watch. I'm not a diver but my Seiko has survived many unplanned swimming sessions in fresh and salt water, it even had a bath in pasta sauce. I have several watches, and I wear them all some. I wear this watch the most by far. It was my first automatic, and it's still my favorite. I recently bought myself a Hamilton Jazzmaster in honor of my dad who wore a Hamilton his whole adult life. It's a bit fancy so, I wear it if I dress up. The Seiko always dressed up fine too.

This is my humble Casio MDV-106,aka Duro, aka Marlin. I bought it after killing my previous watch back in 2012. Since then I’ve beaten the crap out of this thing wearing it on duty as a firefighter. Busted the crystal, and replaced the rubber strap twice before switching to nato straps. Aside from a couple battery replacements it has refused to quit working. It’s the most accurate and reliable timepiece I own. I bought myself a Seiko Turtle to celebrate my retirement in 2022. I really love the Seiko, but the lowly Casio will always be my go to.IMG_2491.jpeg

6105.jpgBLRO.jpg

I've bought and sold more watches than I have guns, I think. Watches (mostly vintage Seiko divers) was the first rabbit hole I ever went down.

Left: My dad's 6105 he bought at a PX in Okinawa in the early 70s. He wore it (almost) every day for 30+ years, never had it serviced and only stopped wearing it when he literally couldn't read the time anymore because the crystal was so scratched up. It was the one thing I wanted to find after he passed, and I had it sent off to a guy in the UK to fully restore/refurbish it. New seals/gaskets and full movement service, I could dive with it, if I wanted to.

Right: Pops loved Magnum P.I. and bought a GMT Pepsi back in the 1980s, but sold it shortly after because it kept terrible time. I put my name on the list for the new steel Pepsi in 2018 when it first released. I had just had my first kid and finished my master's degree, and my dad had just passed away. The Rolex AD told me buying something else would help me get this faster, so I bought the black GMT Master II. It still took me over 3 years to get the call, but once I got it, it hasn't left my wrist.

I've got a few other watches floating around, like my first watch (Seiko SKX009 Pepsi) that don't get as much wear.

The Seiko 5 Automatic #WRUW. Nato strap instead of the bracelet for me. An everyday, affordable, automatic watch. It’s a 38 or 39mm. Not too big. Not too small.

Seiko offers many differnet variations of the 5. You can even find custom watches built off them. They are infinitely customizable.

This watch was given to my Father-In-Law as a gift from his wife. She asked me for help in choosing a nice watch as a gift for him one Christmas. My Mother-In-Law is no longer with us, and he gave the watch to me after she passed.

Will probably give it to one of the grandsons, when my Father-in-Law passes. It’s not the watch that matters, it’s the heritage. IMG_0486.jpeg

When I got accepted to the US Naval Academy my dad gave me his Submariner which he had worn in Vietnam. I wore it while I was in the Marines and it definitely earned some patina. One day, I rode my motorcycle home from work and when I looked to see what time it was, the watch was gone! I felt sick for years and wanted to get a new one but the timing was never right.

This past May, my mother passed away unexpectedly. Sure she was declining and dementia was setting in, but we figured she had 5-10 more years. Her sudden passing made me realize we only have so much time and when it's our time to check out, we will have no say. The only splashy thing I bought from my inheritance was a used 2024 Rolex Submariner. It's my usual daily watch and I hope to make some memories with it and pass it down to my grandson someday, assuming my daughter gets married and has a son.

Moonswatch 1965

Swatch / Omega collaboration as tribute to the flight qualification of the Omega Speedmaster in 1965. Made from a bioceramic material, with some interesting complications that measure 19 hours and 65 minutes.

I happened to be in Edinburgh, Scotland, the day this was released. I got up early and stood in line at the Swatch store with about 30 other collectors and watch nerds.

I was born in 1965.

I don't know jack about watches but I know I like them.

This is the only one that I currently own. I bought into the business I had worked at for 17 years. Four of us bought out 2 of the 3 owners, the 3rd is currently still one of our partners. We signed the papers to purchase the business June of 2023. During the signing I noticed the two owners we bought out, the one remaining partner and the attorney were all wearing watches. Shocker but the attorney's watch was particularly nice.

I decided I wanted to reward myself with a watch. The thing is my earnings are less after buying the business because we have to pay it off. Anway I reached out to who over runs the IG account for FE and asked them for a watch under 500. They suggested this one and it fits my personality and style perfectly. I really like it and I wear it everyday of the week. Most times on the weekend when I am hunting and stuff I don't like having it on. I was kind of waiting until the business is paid off to reward myself with a Rolex or something similar, that is still a few years out and I have the itch to get another. I am wanting an all black one with a metal band, will probably go with another Seiko. Any suggestions on a Seiko or anything with a similar price points?

I must be special today.

The picture shows up when I hit the edit button but not when I hit the post button. I have posted pics the same way on forums for years.

So it doesn't show up until I hit the Reply button, but now I can see it. Weird. Nice Seiko! I have one just like it except with a metal band. I need to get it serviced...
